Oscar Abarca, President of the Colegio de Profesores (Teachers Union) in San Antonio speaks about being part of a coalition No Mas AFP (No More privatized individual retirement plans) because these financial asset management companies commit fraud against the workers of Chile. These AFPs take 100% of worker contribution but the worker only gets back 30% of it at the time of retirement. The teachers union has a membership of about 60,000 in Chile of which 600 are in San Antonio. Abarca states that they know that they aren’t alone, that workers have to stay united always it doesn’t matter what job they have, they are all victims of these same financial asset management companies. Also, when it comes to Education, the teachers union believes that the State has to be responsible for Education.
